HixsonHixson is a northern suburb of Chattanooga and an unincorporated community. In the last several years it has grown into a thriving residential section with many new housing developments and subdivisions as well as older homes. Hixson has also thrived commercially with many new shopping centers containing nationally known stores. Situated within minutes of a lake resort area and the downtown Chattanooga area.

Missionary RidgeMissionary Ridge, referred to by Chattanoogans as "The Ridge," was the site of the Battle of Missionary Ridge in the American Civil War. It is on the crest of a prominent ridge that extends into Georgia and is less than three miles from downtown Chattanooga. Many plaques and monuments of the battle (some quite large) are displayed in small reservations as part of the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park. Some of this collection relating to the Battle of Missionary Ridge, including cannons, are in the yards of the residents of this affluent residential area. "The Ridge" separates the downtown area from the suburbs to the east.

East BrainerdEast Brainerd is an unincorporated eastern suburb of Chattanooga. Part of it is within the city limits of Chattanooga and part is in Hamilton County. In the past ten years many upscale housing developments have been built in East Brainerd, including some gated communities. Urban growth has caused several new schools to be built in the area. The median age in the area is 39 years old. This region boosts two private golf courses - Windstone and Council Fire - and one public course - Brown Acres. Hamilton Place, one of Tennessee's largest shopping centers, is located in East Brainerd.

OoltewahOoltewah is bisected by Interstate 75 which provides access to the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport, downtown Chattanooga, Atlanta, and Knoxville. This area of 7.7 square miles near the new Volkswagon plant has excellent schools. It is the home to the Honors Course where some major golf tournaments are held every year including the National Collegiate. White Oak Mountain overlooks the community. Recent news has also revealed additional growth in the Enterprise South industrial park leading to hundreds of new jobs and area growth.
